The UKGTN has initiated a programme to develop testing criteria for tests listed on the Directory before 2005. Priority has been given to Cystic Fibrosis (CF) as it represents one of the top five requested tests and testing is requested mainly from specialities outside of genetics.
A workshop (29 invitees) was held on the 25th January 2008 and brought together professionals from clinical genetics and other specialties that have expertise in CF. The UKGTN Clinical Advisor chaired the workshop and following the workshop completed generic gene dossiers for CF testing for different clinical purposes. The dossiers were shared with the attendees of the CF workshop for agreement and then taken to the UKGTN Gene Dossier and Directory working group meeting on the 19th August 2008 for evaluation. The dossiers were endorsed at the UKGTN Steering Group meeting held on the 11th September 2008 and presented for information at the GenCAG meeting on the 8th October 2008.
