The UKGTN website is a portal for all your genetic testing needs offered by UKGTN member laboratories. It provides information for NHS commissioners on new tests recommended for service. The site contains an online database of all the UKGTN laboratories and the tests they provide, including the levels of service, for example sequencing of entire coding region or targeted mutation analysis. You can also use the search facility to find laboratories that provide a specific test for a disease or gene or laboratories that are in a specified region.

How is UKGTN involved in the commissioning processes?
The UKGTN will assess whether providing a test as an NHS service is likely to be of benefit to patients. If the test is approved, the recommendation will be passed to the national Genetics Commissioning Advisory Group (GenCAG) who will request that the relevant health commissioners consider providing funding for the test. Those tests that are approved by GenCAG are listed in the Directory of Molecular Genetic Testing. more...
