Information for the Public

The UKGTN brings together all the people involved in providing genetic tests for inherited disorders. These include the laboratory staff that carry out the testing, the clinical genetics teams who see patients, the commissioners who arrange the contracts for the services and provide the funds, and the patient support groups. More information on the UKGTN and genetic testing is available below.

For clinical information patients should contact their GP. Further information is available in our information leaflet for patients and from other NHS online services. The UKGTN Clinical Advisor, Dr Shehla Mohammed, explains what genetic testing involves in this NHS Choices Video

The UKGTN website is currently under redevelopment!!!!  This project has been delayed and UKGTN apologies that the new test services that came into service in April 2012 have not been uploaded as we priortise data preparation for the new website.  Please refer to Section 2 of  Version 9 of the NHS Directory for Genetic Testing for a list of the disorders and genes tested.  Any further queries, please contact the UKGTN.

UKGTN laboratories provide genetic testing services for a wide range of disorders. Search facilities are available by disease and by region. Search results detail the tests offered by network laboratories, the diseases and associated genes, the prices and the turn around times.

Press the search button below for more information on searching for testing services.
